Born in 1966 in Belgrade. He graduated piano at the Conservatory “Tchaikovsky” in Moscow, under Professor Sergei Dorensky. At the age of 12 he made his debut as a pianist with orchestras of Belgrade and Zagreb Philharmonic.
During his professional career as a pianist, he performed as a soloist and with orchestras in Italy, Switzerland, Spain, Ireland, the USA, Russia, Belgium, the former Yugoslav republics and other countries. He was director of the Belgrade Philharmonic Orchestra from March 2001 to September 2013. During that time, the Philharmonic has become “one of the leading European orchestras” (The Independent), “Serbian cult orchestra”(Financial Times),” the most successful cultural institutions in Serbia” (Jutarnji list, Zagreb) and ” the stongest PR weapon of Serbia” (Kvällsposten, Malmö). He started the Foundation “Zubin Mehta” in 2004. He occupied the position of the Minister of Culture and Information of the Serbia September 2013 to August 2016. The Government of the Republic of Serbia again appointed Tasovac the director of the Belgrade Philharmonic on the 24th of January 2017.
