Vladimir Marinković
In the spring of 2020, the world had to face the global pandemic of COVID-19, which, by the end of March, caused close to a million registered infections and 50,000 deaths. When and how the pandemic will be over and will be the consequences for the economy, peace, stability, security and democracy after the pandemic causes huge uncertainty throughout the globe. This situation also creates a global window of opportunity for spreading disinformation and malign domestic and foreign influences which aim is to create confusion and distrust in the population and further limit governments in combating the pandemic by challenging, without proper arguments, the introduced measures and questioning their effectiveness without providing real and tangible evidence.
Anthony Godfrey
Both the United States of America and the Republic of Serbia are not immune to this global challenge, and are utilizing significant resources to combat the pandemic, as well as to prepare and enforce measures for the post-COVID 19 recovery. The United States and Serbia have been allies for most of their common history and in particular, during the most challenging moments in the 20th century, such as WWI and WWII. The COVID-19 pandemic reminds of those bitter moments in human history.
Derek Mitchell
The Serbian-American Friendship Congress believes that, given the situation, the United States and Serbia need to immediately join forces in this challenging moment and help each other in overcoming both the current pandemic and its effects in the post-COVID-19 world. With that in mind, the Serbian-American Friendship Congress together with Color Media Communications, is organizing the first event of this kind with a goal of raising public awareness with trustworthy information about the COVID-19 situation in both countries and to discuss and explore opportunities for mutual help and assistance during and after the COVID-19 pandemic.
