UniCredit Group is pleased to announce that by purchasing 4.49% from the Federal Republic of Germany, it has increased its ownership stake to approximately 9% in the share capital of Commerzbank AG
The acquisition of shares in Commerzbank AG is in line with UniCredit’s strategy and the parameters within which it will continue with further investments.
In order to maintain flexibility, UniCredit will apply for regulatory approval to potentially exceed Commerzbank’s 9.9% if and when necessary.
UniCredit supports the previous work of the Management and Supervisory Board of Commerzbank AG and the progress they have achieved in the results of the bank’s operations.
UniCredit management remains focused on the continued implementation of the UniCredit Unlocked strategy and delivering sustainable profitable growth and distribution for all shareholders.
The transaction will affect the UniCredit CET1 ratio by about 15 bps and will not affect the existing distribution policy.
