The project “Infinity of Structure” represents Serbia at the 23rd International Exhibition of Triennale Milano
At the upcoming 23rd International Exhibition of Triennale Milano, Serbia will showcase the project titled Infinity of Structure led by architect Ivan Mangov and created by team of authors: Professor and multimedia artist Marko Lađušić, ceramist Aleksandar Vac, multimedia artist Marko Todorović and musician Dorian Jovanović.
The decision on the winning project that will be representing the Republic of Serbia at XXIII International Exhibition Triennale Milano Unknown Unknowns. An Introduction to Mysteries. which will be held from May 20 to November 20, 2022, has been taken by a unanimous vote based on the project proposals submitted under the public call for proposals of the Ministry of Culture and Information of the Republic of Serbia and the Museum of Applied Arts in Belgrade. The Lead Commissioner and the Commission have brought this decision taking into consideration the evaluation criteria for project proposals, in line with the prerequisites of the public call.
The Commission examined a total of 36 proposals, shortlisting 3 projects:
- Infinity of Structure – Ivan Mangov and team of authors
- Walk on Water – Veljko Zejak
- Ontogeny of Uncertainty – BIO2ARH
According to the Commission’s opinion the project Infinity of Structure has fully met the evaluation criteria and requisites, more specifically it fulfilled the criteria on artistic value and authenticity, conceptual integrity and in-depth development of the artistic idea within the general theme of the XXIII International Exhibition Triennale Milano, artistic and technical elaboration of the idea, the technical flexibility, as well as the budget compliance with the set-up of the exhibition.
Besides Ivan Mangov, the team of authors include Professor and multimedia artist Marko Lađušić, ceramist Aleksandar Vac, multimedia artist Marko Todorović and musician Dorian Jovanović.
As stated in the official communication by the Ministry of Culture and Information of Serbia the Commission was composed of the following experts: Commissioner Biljana Jotic, art historian and curator, acting Director of the Museum of Applied Arts in Belgrade, and the Expert Council of which they are members dr. Milorad Mladenović, Full Professor at the Faculty of Architecture in Belgrade, President of the Council, and MSc Natasa Radojevic, art historian, artistic director of “Drina Gallery” in Belgrade; MSc Marija Radisavčević, art historian and senior curator at Art Gallery “Nadežda Petrović” in Čačak; dr. Andjela Mujcic, artist, Assistant Professor at the Faculty of Arts in Kosovska Mitrovica, University of Pristina; dr. Dejan Vračarević, associate at the Museum of Science and Technology, lecturer at the Academy of Technical Vocational Studies, Belgrade; MSc. Jovanka Stanojevic, artist, assistant Professor at the Faculty of Applied Arts in Belgrade.
Ever since 1923, Triennale Milano has been one of world’s leading cultural institutions, conveying the complexities of the contemporary world in a host of artistic forms: design, architecture, and the visual, scenic, and performing arts. Its aim is to find broader, more innovative ways of thinking, bringing the experiences of different cultures and languages together in a single place and time.
The 23rd International Exhibition of Triennale Milano is conceived as a space for open and plural debate and comparison, where different experiences, cultures and perspectives can converge. Unknown Unknowns. An Introduction to Mysteries will try to answer a series of questions about what we still “don’t know we don’t know” in different topics: from the evolution of the cities to the oceans, from genetics to astrophysics. A deep experience, which will involve designers, architects, artists, playwrights and musicians, and it will give the opportunity to overturn our idea of the world.
The 23rd International Exhibition of Triennale Milano will be curated by Ersilia Vaudo, astrophysicist and Chief Diversity Officer at the ESA European Space Agency. The design of the installations will be carried out by Francis Kéré, architect and founder of Kéré Architecture. As with previous editions, the International Exhibition of Triennale Milano will consist of thematic exhibitions – curated by Ersilia Vaudo – and exhibitions produced by international participants invited by the Government of Italy. Republic of Serbia will have the 1st official appearance of the at the event with a project Infinity of Structures led by Ivan Mangov and created by team of authors: Marko Lađušić Aleksandar Vac, Marko Todorović and musician Dorian Jovanović.
The role of curator of the Serbian pavilion was assigned to Biljana Jotic – Commissioner for the Republic of Serbia and acting director of the Museum of Applied Arts in Belgrade.
