From February 19, the regional hit TV series called “Područje bez Signala” (“Area without a Signal”) will be aired every weekend, at 8 pm, on the first programme of the Serbian Broadcasting Corporation (RTS). The series is a co-production of Croatia, Slovenia and Serbia and has won the award for the best series at the Serial Mania 2021 Festival in Lille, as well as the audience award at the Seriencamp Festival in Munich.
A great cast, led by director Dalibor Matanić (known for the series “Novine“), portrays an emotional story about long-forgotten ideals of togetherness, solidarity and finding meaning in life.
In six episodes (each bearing the name of one of the six main characters), we follow the story of Oleg and Nikola who are arriving in the remote, cramped town of Nuštin, once an industrial centre. To deliver a turbine to a client from the Maghreb that is no longer produced anywhere, the two of them have to renovate a factory that closed a long time ago. When the town comes alive and the locals regain their lost dignity and hope, the client disappears and the turbine is left without a buyer. However, neither Nikola, nor Oleg, nor the workers are ready to give up. In anticipation of the first episode, we present to you the heroes whose destinies intertwine in “Područje bez Signala”.
The series is based on the eponymous novel written by the Croatian writer Robert Perišić.
