The panel series “Two Faces of the Same Destiny” sheds light on the role and challenges of the colonists’ descendants in the museum display of the history of the Danube Swabians
On Thursday, February 29, 2024, in the Museum of the Danube Swabians, at the address Zmaj Jovina bb, Sombor, the first in a series of panels entitled “Two Faces of the Same Destiny” will be held. This panel, dedicated to the challenges and the role of descendants of colonists in the creation of the Museum of Danube Swabians, will bring together experts from various fields, including Milka Ljuboja, museum advisor, and Miroslava Ćaćić, curator and historian. The discussion starts at 18:00, and entry is free for all interested parties.
The series of panels continues through 2024 with topics that include the cultural heritage of the Danube Swabians in Vojvodina, coexistence with other communities, social changes during the world wars, as well as the fate of the Danube Swabians in the works of Nenad Novak Stefanović, the writer. A particularly important discussion is expected on November 21 on the topic of the prospect of reconciliation between the Danube Swabians and the majority population, which will be led by Dr. Zoran Janjetović.
These panel discussions provide a unique opportunity to understand and reflect on the history, culture, and challenges faced by the descendants of the Danube Swabians.
