The University of Novi Sad in cooperation with the Serbian University Sports Association, Serbian National Rowing Federation, the Vojvodina Rowing Association, “Danubius 1885” rowing club, and Lake Palic in the city of Subotica, announces the 2017 European University Championships for the sport of rowing.
The University of Novi Sad is home to over fifty thousand students with a rich history of sport, and organising sporting events. Rowing as a sport has been a fundamental part of student life at many world universities, and one of the worlds oldest competitions in modern times is the world famous Oxford-Cambridge race that has been going on for over 140 years.
The University along with its supporting partners wants to develop awareness of this beautiful sport, and to attract a following of students that will one day have a similar experience to that of other universities where this and other sports have a crucial role in the student’s lives.
The venue for this event will be in the city of Subotica, on Lake Palic, a beautiful natural lake that has hosted many rowing events over the past few decades. The lake is a famous tourist attraction in the region, and is a perfect setting to host hundreds of international competitors. The dates of the event are 12th through 16th of July 2017.
